Since providers started talking about the formation of a statewide association that was specifically for family child care providers one of the goals was to affiliate with a national professional association. It made sense that that association would be the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC).
Why did the founding group of providers feel affiliation would be of value to providers in Maine?
Across Maine, as across the nation, there are the same conversations taking place about child care. We have elected officials, researchers, and families concerned about cost, access, safety, and quality. How can we as providers be positively involved in finding solutions that provide for a sustainable business, improve quality, and moves forward the professionalism of our field of child care?
Joining together is the best way.
FCCAM’s mission is to unify, promote and strengthen quality professional family child care in the State of Maine. Research continues to indicate that the quality of care by providers who are members of professional associations is higher. This is because of the strengthening relationships built through the networking and training opportunities associations provide. FCCAM’s efforts will be supported by an affiliation with NAFCC.
Joining a national association allows for our voices to be heard from the local, to state, to federal level. Together providers can speak to the importance of family child care in meeting the needs of children and families in the United States.
Affiliation with NAFCC means assistance to FCCAM, to be shared with our membership, thru the Association receiving:
- Monthly e-newsletters and public policy updates
- Networking and support from national family child care leaders
- Discounted Association Leadership Training Webinars
- Two Discounted Registrations for NAFCC’s Family Child Care Conference
- List Trainings and Conference on NAFCC’s Online Training Calendar
