We welcome all Maine’s Family Child Care Providers and their staff to join the Family Child Care Association of Maine (FCCAM), state affiliate for the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).
FCCAM understands the critical role of family child care providers in the lives of children and families. We also understand the hard work and long hours that are required to provide the much needed child care services in Maine’s diverse communities.
FCCAM is recognized as a professional state-level organization that offers support to family child care providers statewide. We are the only professional association in Maine dedicated specifically to supporting family child care providers. Our input is sought by legislators and others in the child care field on issues that impact family child care.
Membership in FCCAM will provide opportunities to network both locally and statewide with other Providers for training and support. Membership will connect us with other organizations that are currently engaged with advocating for children and their families in Maine. It will provide an opportunity to drive awareness of our professionalism and value to our communities. It will provide Providers with a united voice for input in changes that impact Family Child Care in Maine directly.
Maine is a diverse state and our family child care providers reflect that diversity. Your input is always welcome to keep us informed of your needs and concerns, so please reach out and contact us at any time.
FCCAM is not party affiliated, but as an organization we advocate for policy that is appropriate for children, families and the professional family child care provider.
Alone we are a but a whisper. Together our voices = A FORCE.
Our website shares information on FCCAM, ongoing advocacy within Maine and nationally, available trainings and resources to support providers at whatever level they are at in their family child care career.
Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) recognizes both the need for and the of importance of supporting family child care providers in their work with young children and their families. With that viewpoint, Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) PDN engaged MaineAEYC to work with a small group of family child care providers to organize a statewide association focused on supporting family child care providers.
A founding goal of FCCAM was to become a state affiliation with the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC). NAFCC is the only national professional association dedicated specifically to promoting high-quality early childhood experiences in the unique environment of family child care programs. NAFCC is the national organization that oversees accreditation of family child care providers.
That goal was reached within 1 year of formation.
