Maine Early Childhood Workforce Salary Supplement System

The system provides salary supplements to eligible child care providers and early childhood educators who provide direct child care services to children in licensed child care facilities or are licensed family child care providers. Supplement level is based on the workers’ level of education and experience. The Department will determine Tier amounts based on current annual budget for the Salary Supplement System and total number of Educators enrolled in the Salary Supplement Program.

New providers must first create a profile before registering for the Salary Supplement System.
- Child care staff presently in the Maine Roads to Quality (MRTQ) registry as Level 0 are not eligible for the salary supplement payments. To move from a Level 0 to a Level 1, staff are required to complete the free, on-demand health and safety training, be properly registered in the MRTQ registry, and have 30 days of experience to be eligible.
Early Care & Education (ECE) Program Enrollment Collection Project

The ECE Enrollment Data Collection project – is no longer paying the $50 per month to participate. Although the grant funds are done providers are encouraged to please continue to participate in this important data collection project as the information they directly provide is of value.
By continuing to supply your enrollment data, you will continue to inform OCFS on the numbers of children and families served monthly. The data that OCFS collects through this project assists the Department in decision making for resources, programs, and assistance to the Early Child Education field across the state.

- Current Infant (6 weeks thru 12 months) Enrollment Number
- Current Toddler (13 months thru 36 months) Enrollment Number
- Current Preschool (3 years thru 5 years) Enrollment Number
- Current School Age Enrollment Number
Child Care Affordability Program CCAP
Amount:
- Infant Stipend – $100 per week stipend for twenty (20) or more hours in that week
- QRIS Bumps for Rising Star levels
- 35% increase for a CCAP child with a special need
- 35% for off hour care 6pm-6am and/ or weekends

T.E.A.C.H. offers scholarships and supports that improve the knowledge and compensation of early childhood educators looking to earn Associate and/or Bachelor degrees.
Amount: varies – currently offering scholarship that provide support towards:
- tuition and book expenses;
- travel/access stipend
- Paid release time from the classroom for studying & homework
