Maine’s Bureau of Highway Safety – FREE Child Care Provider Transporter Training
The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety would like to inform providers that this year, the CPS Basic
Awareness Trainings will be conducted differently. Rather than having agencies register for prescheduled dates and locations, we will now offer trainings upon request. Interested parties,
whether for hybrid or in-person sessions, should contact myself, Erica Davis, at
erica.davis@maine.gov to discuss arrangements and connect with an instructor.
For those wishing to host a training at their own venue, please ensure that the location has a
sufficiently large parking lot. The hands-on portion will primarily take place outside, so it’s
important for us to ensure that participants can practice installing car seats in their personal
vehicles without any issues. The minimum requirement for class size is five students, and both
hybrid and in-person training formats remain available. Independent providers without agency
affiliation will be contacted if additional space is available in scheduled classes in their
surrounding areas. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work directly with an instructor if no
other options are feasible.
